How do you think keyblade transformations will work in KH4?
We saw in the trailer and images of Kingdom Hearts 4 that Sora seems able to build stuff with his keyblade, which seems similar to the form changes from KH3, and the attacks from the Lingering Will from KH2. And I have been thinking on how this kind of ability could affect gameplay.
I think the most obvious use for this mechanic seems to be something similar to the limit attacks from KH1 and Days, where Sora starts doing a move like Sonic Blade or Ragnarok, but now as an option in the command menu instead of being dependant on Sora’s position or Health.
Another likely use would be to reuse the form change mechanic from KH3. I think this system is pretty fun and makes fights dynamic, but there are many who don’t like it, so it might not return because of it and if they decide to use a similar idea.
This other idea being simply giving those extra forms as separate weapons that you can equip and use at any time instead of tying them up to transformations, being able to reuse many form changes from 3 while making it a somewhat new mechanic. There are many ways of making this work, like Sora learning new keyblade forms on new worlds instead of earning new keyblades, or he gets a new form with each new keyblade he gets every keyblade can use any form while having different abilities and stats. This sounds fun to me at least but also sounds like a lot of work making different designs for each firm of each keyblade.
And lastly, I think the keyblade transformations could be used for the combo finishers, like gravity break but his blade turns into a hammer or explosion but dots summons a whip like the Lingering Will. This would just be an asthetic difference for the finishers, but it could look cool.
What other ideas do you have for using keyblade transformations?
