Are the employment services helpful for anyone, or I am just really unlucky?
I am unemployed for some time now, as I've been on integration course. My "adviser" with TE Palvelut was useless, she was never replying to my e-mails and if she was writing to me, on those three occasions she gave me wrong information on two of them. I almost got kicked out of the course, because she gave me a wrong place and date it starts, and if the teacher didn't contacted me to ask why I am not coming to the class I'd probably lose it. Other advice costed me money as she told me I am not allowed to get a short term job while waiting for next course module to start, which as I learned later was wrong.
As I saw some of my coursemate being in constant contact with her advisor and getting some actual useful information from her, I demanded to have a new supervisor appointed.
Now the course is finished and I have been unemployed for a month and a half. I started looking for work before the course finish and had some questions regarding my proffesional qualifications. So over last, say, 3 months I am being bumped between four different people, first told me he's not my advisor and I will have one appoined to me soon. Then I got an e-mail with someone's name saying this is my advisor, I requested contact, only to be ignored, so I called the call centre to be told someone else is my advisor, that person ignored my request for contact again, and now I've been contacted by yet another person who claims she's my advisor, and who started to ask me ridiculous questions in no way related to my situation (as if she mixed files of her clients or something) and when I asked if she would rather maybe help me to find a job, she finally looked into my file and she send me a job ad saying I should apply for this one (I applied for it 3 weeks earlier and I think it was already expired at this time, as the link was dead).
As I am now trying to broad my option and one potential emplouer told me they want me to go self employed, and I also have a chance to get a job abroad, I hoped for some advice, so I asked if we could have a chat about that instead. I was granted an audience in about two months now.
I politely thanked and requested to cancel it, as by this time I'd probably know all I need to knwo myself - I can't sit on my arse for two months and twirl my thumbs waiting for someone to tell me if it's a good idea to be self employed under my specific circumastances if I have to give reply by this monday :)
It's not like I am complaining, I am a big boy, I will probably manage on my own and I do understand that the employment services are overwhelmed under current economic climate, especially in Helsinki where there was that reform that TE Palvelut was scrapped and now the city's own services are dealign with it or something. I get it.
But as I observe it, I got a feeling it's not the best organized institution, and in my particular case appointing new people to me every couple of weeks, and sending me some automatically generated e-mails and letter, as well as pointless e-mails requesting me to provide non-existent documents in an irrelevant case of someone's else is a huge waste of money.
Therefore I wonder, am I just unlucky, or this is how it is for pretty much everyone?
