Job market in Scotland is getting bad

I'm 19 and have been unemployed for a year with zero luck in finding a job. The job market isn't exactly totally down the gutter but it shouldn't be this hard to find a job, I would do anything I worked as a roofers laberour for about a year but that was with my ex girlfriends dad and we split up, iv had allot of interviews and I would say my interview skills have greatly improved so hopefully I land a job soon. I'm going back to college to study painting and decorating in 2 months but still need a part time job for money. It's honestly very discouraging because I want to do things I want to go out start driving go on holidays make friends and the only thing holding me back is the fact that I have no money to do any of these things, the uk is really going down the gutter my dad said years ago the uk was a great place to live most people didn't even need to buy a house because council houses where so widely available, maybe it's an over population thing with all these migrants coming or it's just the fact that the country has grown to big for its boots. Sorry for ranting, I know I'm not alone in this
