Something really weird happened today and I want your opinions

I'm at a same day warehouse so we scan our licenses at the kiosks on the wall......

There was one person standing waiting when i walked in and I have no idea how long he was standing there. I scanned my license at one of the probably 20+ kiosks that are available and open, and before the green check came on the screen or I could move away from the space, he cut infront of me and scanned his license. His went through and mine didn't. He told me that mine didn't go through and then disappeared from sight by the time I turned around to re scan my license

It was really odd. It was almost like he was waiting for someone to come in to scan their license and he timed something perfectly
