New cushions needed?

I’m a newbie and I just bought a pair of used Riedell 111 Angels. The seller said they had never been skated on and I think he told the truth - they were pristine. They were originally bought in 2020. Do five year old skates need new cushions? Does it matter whether they were skated on? Being a beginner I doubt I can even feel the difference between ages/types of cushions, but I don’t want to skate on anything that could have dried out with age, etc. Please educate me.
