Its a siege and youre supposed to defend the point not bring the battle to the enemy.
I was seiging THIER town and they rallied out to meet me, so why do I have some arbitrary point to defend?

He said he was sieging their town, as in he was attacking
He was sieging but they sallied out which made him the defender - which meant he was given an arbitrary point to defend

he probably ran some units in the the point, and they captured it back, normally if you are sieging a town, there is no requirement for you to defend a point at all.
One enemy horse unit ran over to some capture point, took it and then oh i don't know a minute later they just, win... we just started fighting but "lol nah we win we took the capture point"
Are...are you shitting me? This isn't multiplier King of the Hill mode it was a normal Seige defense Battle on the Campaign Map.
Also, is it just me or did they remove the ability to merge undermanned units together to replenish them on the campaign map?
They did remove that feature, unless I'm missing something. Oh, and capture points is one of the worst ideas I've ever seen.
They've been in every total war game
Not in Shogun 1 or Medieval 1. But those sieges were atrocious.
Opposite for me: I was at least 4:1 outnumbered, but the enemy reinforcements had to land by sea to help their (few) allies. So I just rushed, defeated the few troops near the capture point and took it. By the time the numerous reinforcements started landing on the shores, I won.
Cheap victory, felt dirty. So I agree with your point.
