Explain how the ironman teamup works

God, I swear to god there are times where i'm pointing the laser dead at somebody, and it doesn't register a hit or a heal. even when I aim the rectacle to the 0right, it still doesn't register a hit hit

It truly feels like I have to aim the beam back and forth to register a hit on Whoever i'm looking at, why can't it just be a straightforward shot?
