A story of mine involving Hecate
So I went to do a spell recently. The nature of the spell itself is unimportant, but Hekate was there to assist me.
She wanted me to do the spell outside, off my own premises, at night. And in a location that while I love frequenting it during the day, I didn't want to go into at night. I don't live in the nicest area, and I have been cautioned all my life to stay away from going out at night because I could be a victim of crimes, etc.
Hecate assured me that I would be perfectly safe, that no one would disturb me, and I needed to get comfortable with going out a night alone to do spellwork.
(I had an overprotective narcissistic mother who projected many of her fears onto me. Anyways!).
Hecate chose the spot. A conservation site in my local area. It was near to canals, I was surrounded by oak trees, in nature. And I was also not far from a memorial for a young man who died within the last year. It was his favourite spot in life, apparently. I never knew the guy, but Hecate told me to acknowledge his presence there anyway. All I could think of to do was say hi.
It wasn't just Hecate's presence I felt. I did also feel the spirits of the land in that area. But she turned out to be correct - not a single person came to interrupt me or bother me while I did my spellwork.
Apparently the main reason for why Hecate wanted to work with me on the spell wasn't to power the spell - it was to teach me not to be afraid of going out in nature at night alone. She made it very clear to me that if I wanted to progress as a witch and as one of her devotees, that going out a night was a fear I needed to face... because apparently in the future, there will be some spells I cast that will require this of me.
"You're one of mine - to be one of mine requires you to be comfortable with the dark."
And not just metaphorically, but literally.
I did still feel fear. But I still did it anyway. And it was the night that I realised just how insanely protective she actually is, even though I have been working with her for quite some time now.
