For sellers: How to deal with low ballers
Ignore them.
Don’t counter. It just gives them the opportunity to decline, and you gain nothing from that interaction. The only strategic benefit of a low ballers offer is letting it sit—it triggers a 24-hour notification to anyone who liked the item and shows at the top of the listing. If the buyer is serious, they’ll come back with a better offer. Don’t lift a finger.
It’s wild how this sub defends lowballing behavior depending on the context or whatever justification buyers invent.
Let’s be clear: if a cheaper comp existed, the buyer would’ve purchased it. The fact that they’re sending you a lowball means they want your item—but at their manipulated price. That’s not negotiation; it’s gaslighting and entitlement.
Lowballers often come with cheapskate behavior and are high-risk: returns, scams, headaches. Don’t bother engaging. The block button is your best friend.
