I enjoyed the Ken Burns documentary, but where can I lodge a complaint that they keep misgendering and deadnaming his youngest child?
Toward the end of her life, Gloria Hemingway underwent gender affirming surgery and predominantly went by a female name and female pronouns. I mean, if someone undergoes surgery doesn't that mean they're pretty committed to the transition?
The documentary was made in 2021. The filmmakers should know better.
Patrick Hemingway, who was featured in the documentary, should also know better than to simply call it "crossdressing," particularly in context of other statements seemingly tolerant of gender-fluidity and gender nonconformism.
Heck, if you google "Gregory Hemingway" is redirects to "Gloria Hemingway."
In all seriousness, I wonder why the filmmakers made the choice to refer to Gloria that way. The film is otherwise very good.
