Maximum Hrs of Work for Contractor

Hi all

I have recently taken up a contractor role with one of the big 4 banks through a recruitment agency.

The terms of engagement states that I am required to be in office 8 hours a day.

So my understanding of it is 38 working hours plus 30 minutes of unpaid lunch daily. With two 10 minute paid breaks daily as per OHS requirements.

The manager the team is reporting to insists that its 8 production hours plus half an hour lunch daily. Thus requiring that we be in office for 8.5 hours daily.

I have sought clarification from the agency but still waiting to hear from them.

Hoping somebody here can point me in the right direction.

Is section 62(1) of the Fair Work Act 2009 regarding maximum weekly hours applicable to casual contracted employees?

That extra 30 minutes his forcing us to work will make a massive difference to my life as a parent who has to rush home to pick up my child from daycare 😞
