Need help/advice/encouragement

Hey, y'all! So, I've never had a dog before, and I was telling one of my coworkers about wanting to have a dog (I live by myself and I wanted some companionship) and told me about his sisters dog she was trying to find a home for. Anyways, I've had her for a couple days now (she's a 6-8 month old pit bull/terrier mix that the previous owner found on the street; she got her checked out and everything before she got her) and I took her to my parents place to see some of my family members and it was fine, but a little discouraging. My dad is allergic and so I kept her outside on the patio. Half of my family was interested, the others were not. I've always wanted a dog since I was like 5 years old, and now I have one, but I'm having second thoughts, because she's a puppy and she's constantly around me (which I'm ok with; she's adorable, but also sometimes I just want some space) and I don't know if the hobbies I have and love are sutable for a dog. The first day wasn't a great experience to begin with:

Long car ride home that involved a stop at the gas station to clean up her puke in the back seat, giving her some water and shade while I clean it out, and then she puked that water up when we were almost home, and then puked some more that day

Second day:

I didn't listen to her whimpering and she crapped in her cage and I woke up that morning to the smell of dog poop

Today:

I came home to her having chewed up brand new stuffed rabbit

Anyways, I'm not trying to sound like a jerk; I'm just super uncertain and I just didn't know if anyone had any advice or if they have been in a similar situation. Thank you!
