As a new global player this game is fueling my nascar nostalgia
I was trying to think just why I quickly became so addicted to this game and it struck me that the career mode is very similar to that of some of the old NASCAR games from the PS2 era where you’d own a team and then upgrade it.
In them you also would basically start out as nothing. If you had the difficulty turned up in some of the games like dirt to Daytona you wouldn’t even be able to race in the main race because you’d struggle to qualify for the main. Then you’d slowly upgrade your car / team as seasons ticked by to where you’re competing for wins.
It also brings back some of the feelings of playing the old NCAA football games where you’re doing a similar thing. Taking over a small college and working through receuiting over seasons to turn them into a powerhouse.
Which is ultimately what this career mode is. Even beyond a single career, each career is basically being built upon by its predecessors so you slowly improve to where you’re competing for wins more and more.
Ftr I became so obsessed with the nascar and racing I made a career out of it so this game is hitting the same general ideas that auto racing does / did both irl and in old games.
