My girlfriend says I'm selfish and self-important AITAH?
When my girlfriend is in pain or sick she starts to get a lot of anxiety. In this state, she is hypersensitive and extremely irritable. From her perspective, she is being perfectly reasonable and respectful. From my perspective, she is incredibly short, snippy, demanding, and dismissive. She claims she is just outwardly agitated toward the world and that I should not take it personally. She also says that I am being selfish and self-important for having anything to say about the way I'm being spoken to.
For some context, usually, these things will start at some time during the day and I will suggest she talk to a doctor. She says this is dismissive and she's not going to go to a clinic to be told to drink water or pay $400 for an ER visit for nothing. She will usually start freaking out late at night and that's when things start to get out of hand. I start to fear how the night will turn from relatively pleasant to being told that I don't care about her and being berated about how I don't and never do enough when she's feeling ill.
She has asked that I google her symptoms when this occurs and asks repetitively until I do. I am against this because I am not a licensed medical professional. Reading about diseases, illnesses, and disorders that are not correct will fuel her anxiety and make her and whatever she is feeling worse. She asks for "help" and expects me to know what to do. She reiterates her symptoms over and over again and I must respond with something every time or she will become upset that I am ignoring her. She starts talking down to me and saying I don't care about her. I tell her to talk to a doctor and she either reacts angrily or claims she doesn't know how to schedule appointments and that I should have already done it for her.
She claims that I am not a good partner because of this.
