VFC M40a3 or VSR-10?
Please help me make an informed decision. The situation:
Last Friday I went window shopping at my local store, checked out the bargain bin, and very impulsively decided to take home my first bolt-action: a VFC/ASG M40a3 proline. Normally they go for €425, this one was a demo model for €300. I was in a hurry so I neglected to test it there, so of course I come home and only then notice the safety lever is missing, and it's shooting at around 1.1 of the advertised 1.7 joules. I email the store, and long story short I can go exchange it for a new in box one.
Now my question: would I be stupid not to take this apparently very nice, high quality VFC at 30% off, or should I opt for something like a VSR-10 for €230 instead and use the difference to upgrade it right off the bat?
A few things about the M40 that have made me consider the latter:
- proprietary 20 round magazines that I can't find in the EU
- it's really goddamn heavy at 3kg
- a few proprietary parts that aren't vsr-10 compatible for when I want to start upgrading the rifle
A few things about the M40 that make me want to keep it:
- VFC known as a really decent brand
- The stock looks and feels awesome
- good discount on a rifle that retails at almost twice the price of the VSR normally
What do?
