How do you think things would have gone if Rose didn’t die to give birth to Steven?

Let’s say that passing her gem on was impossible. She gives birth to Steven who is a mostly human child, he did get some weird traits from growing in a magic shapeshifted womb. Maybe Rose and Greg even had more children after Steven.

How would things change when the story has an alive Rose and a mostly human Steven?
