UX200 2019 scan showed cooling system valve needs replacement but mechanic says is better to replace valve and pump. is it true?

hello and thank you in advance! my UX200 is finally giving me some headaches at 46k. after showing Engine Maintenance requires message, scan says cooling system valve is faulty, cost about $40. but mechanic says by “his experience” is better to also change the water pump that goes around $400. is this a valid suggestion or the guy is pulling my leg?
