Do authors want to receive constructive criticism comments?

Discussion (Non-question)

Hey guys, I’m reading a fan fiction that honestly I am really enjoying but I’m noticing this one word being used like an absurd amount of times, and the author is doing this thing where they over explain the characters feelings, or like re-explains how they are feeling every paragraph and I kind of want to leave feedback that, that was already explained. The reader knows that’s what the character is feeling/how the character operates at this point, you’ve made it a point to let us know (ex. she has a poker face so every time she feels more than a baseline of emotions, the author makes it a point to say something like “not that they would know that, due to my poker face” - not written like that obviously but you get the idea, I myself am not an author lol. But that type of vibe, I just feel like things are egregiously over explained.

Ultimately the writing and the plot are super good, and I definitely would do this in a polite way while also listing off the qualities of the fic that I DO really enjoy.

Just wondering if that would be received well? Personally I would want feedback like that to improve my own writing but I also don’t want to like overstep here?

What are your thoughts on this as authors/people who enjoy fanfiction?
