Helpful data to help you learn from your past mistakes?

I’m finishing up v1 of the Hound and am about to code the in-game (in-unity) data portal. I already have a web-based data portal for a first pass. I’m asking for input on whether it’s worth the time to implement these extra features—specifically error-related features—and general suggestions on what data you’d like to see. We log everything so have most data available to work with.

What else would you want to see in an error card? We currently have: payout, hand at state of error, final hand, dealer hand, original bet, strategy used, any deviations that could apply or basic strategy decisions. I will add cards remaining, true count calculation settings, and whether you changed your decision. We log every error, even if you change your action. Those are easy to add. More involved features include:

  • Whole-table view. The data exists, but laying it out nicely on the web portal requires work; otherwise it will be just a list of cards per player. The in-game portal could render the table using the engine.
  • “What If” feature. Simulate alternative decisions (double, stand, hit). This requires logging the shoe state but is doable—easier in-game than on the web portal.
  • Non-error recreations. For example, “show this round from this session” to display table state and counts. Currently, we only show error hands, but we have data for all.

Anywho -- thanks for reading -- stay tuned for a free Reddit pass. I need a few days to a week to get things ready for an initial release. Putting the last core features together (although there is SO MUCH I want to add).
