Should I join the army?

I F18, just turned 18 a week ago. Right now, it feels like I have absolutely nothing going for me. I'm stuck at home all the time. No one will hire me. I feel lost.

I have always wanted to join the army (specifically a pilot, though I know how much work that is) I've always felt like it would give me some fulfillment with my life. However, I know there's a lot of downsides with the military. I know they practically own you for several years. You have no choices. I also know that some women there arent treated the best. But these are all rumors.

My mom is very adamant that I shouldn't. That I should find something else to do with my life.

But I keep getting stuck on the thought that this is something I should do.

Does anyone with military experience or just anyone I guess, have any advice on what I should do?
