Independent Record & Guitar Shops - Shinjuku?

Hey Tokyo musos,

I’m returning to Japan for Fuji Rock #6 but for the first time I’ll only be there for the four nights of the festival and will be solo. I’ll have 7 hours free in Tokyo on the Monday before my 11pm flight so thought I’d treat myself by checking out some record and guitar shops as I won’t be getting dragged around every single depato. I only selected Shinjuku as it’s the area I’m most familiar with but I’m definitely open to suggestions for better areas. I just don’t want to be jumping around too much as I will be pretty tired.

My music tastes are probably classed as indie alternative rock/post rock/shoegaze/lo fi/slowcore/ambient/dream pop and the 90’s was my era so I’m sure you can guess some of the bands I listen to! Any record shops you can recommend that cater more to these styles would be greatly appreciated.

As for guitar shops I probably won’t walk away with a guitar (I do have a Daion Performer and 1978 Morris TF60 so will eventually add to my collection) but I am interested in taking home a Japanese pedal suited to my music tastes. To give you an idea this is what I currently have:

I don’t mind doubling up on pedal style (reverb/distortion/delay/etc) as I’m sure the locally made one will offer something unique. Any suggestions for brands and pedals would be awesome and independent stores likely to sell them would similarly be great, I like to support the smaller shops.
