First Time Staying at RPA Hospital – What Should I Expect?

Hi everyone,

I’m a female public patient and will be staying at Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital for the first time after surgery. My doctor advised I’ll need to stay for about 7 days to recover.

I’m just wondering if anyone here has experience staying at RPA as a public patient after surgery, and if you can share what to expect day-to-day?

A few questions on my mind:

Am I allowed to take a shower during my hospital stay? Should I bring shampoo, and a hair dryer?

Can I bring my work laptop?

Will there be power points to charge my phone?

Anything you wish you had brought but didn’t?

Any advice or shared experience would be really appreciated. I’m feeling a bit nervous and would love to know what it’s like from people who’ve been through it!
