My husband stopped initiating sex. I feel undesired and frustrated. Can anyone relate?
Hi all, I’m new here. I’m 37F, my husband is 37M. We’ve been married for 6 years and have one son.
About 1.5 years ago, my husband completely stopped initiating sex. This started after a counseling session where I shared that sometimes I’m not immediately in the mood when he initiates but that his desire for me often gets me in the mood.
Ever since then, he’s developed this belief that if he initiates and I’m not in the mood, it’s basically forcing me, he even compares it to rape. I’ve reassured him many times that this is absolutely not the case. We’ve talked about it over and over, but he can’t seem to move past this hangup.
Two months ago, I told him plainly that I need him to initiate too, that I want to feel desired and wanted by him. He also struggles to give me compliments or express that he finds me attractive (he says he does, but doesn’t feel worthy of saying it out loud). I told him I would stop initiating until he starts, because I need this from him, too. It’s now been two months, and nothing has changed.
He’s seeing a private therapist for these issues, but so far there’s no visible progress.
I’m feeling really frustrated, undesired, and honestly pretty lonely. Am I crazy for feeling this way? Is it him? Has anyone else been through something similar?
