Potentially broken kitchen aid dishwasher

Hi, I'm currently staying with someone for free and I think I broke their dishwasher! I added dawn dosh soap instead of dishwasher detergent by accident and it caused suds to over flow from it. The house owner is away right now, I've communicated with them about it and they are very upset and worried. I've tried rinsing it with vinegar and water and draining it and I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it keeps flashing the error code "F8 E4". I think the next thing I would need to do is empty the drip trey under the dish washer, but I'm not sure that would help at this point. I really don't want to damage my relationship with this person especially over such a stupid mistake. I also don't know if I have enough to pay for a new washing machine or to cover damages so I'm really hoping it's not bad. If anyone has any advice that would be great! The house owner gets home tomorrow. Thanks so much!
