Condo owner here- advice for suing property management co for negligence?
I own a condo in a building managed by a shitty property management company. I had a recent attempted break in and, in the investigation, learned they had lost my keys.
It turns out a former doorman has had access to the building (via stolen? fob and garage door opener) and is on some property cameras at the time of the break in. He is not supposed to be on the property, as he neither lives nor works there. We don’t have cameras in most hallways so there’s no video of him breaking into my unit, so he probably won’t get charged with it. There is footage of him leaving the garage ~15 minutes after the attempted break in. He has a history of groping women, which was caught on camera once. Otherwise no record.
The company is refusing to acknowledge that they lost my key. They’re doing a key audit to prevent other people from realizing their keys are lost. They are extremely lazy and generally don’t GAF about most things.
I have everything in emails and text. The detective on the case has body cam footage where we discovered that the key is missing. They last used my keys a month ago for scheduled maintenance, and before that my neighbor used it in December.
Do I have grounds to sue? If so, what type of lawyer would I use?
