I feel like a terrible person

I don't have patience for dementia. I work in assisted living, our dementia care unit is full and as a result my building, despite being targeted as a minor assistance stage, keeps accepting new residents who are way beyond what we're supposed to be. I can hand high care physically, but for some reason my brain doesn't do well with people whose brains aren't doing well. I get so angry.

We'll have a lady that hasn't come down to dinner and we're trying to escort her and she is asking why to everything.

"It's dinner time, let's head down"

"You think it's dinner time hmm?"

"Yep, so let's head down"

"What if I don't?"

"Then I guess we'll just bring you something to eat"

"What if I don't eat that?"

"Then I will let the nurse know so they don't think I'm neglecting you"

"How come?"

"Neglect is abuse. It's important that you eat"

"Why's that?"

"Because if you don't eat eventually you'll starve to death and die."

"Goodness. I don't think that's true for everybody"

And I will have gone from being okay to being totally pissed. We don't have the ratios of dementia units- I really don't have time for this. I have 15 other people on this floor that need help not to mention the other floors when another caregiver goes on their break.

It sucks. I don't like me being like this. I know logically what is happening to these people's minds. I have watched the training videos about the care for people with dementia but it always seems to take place in a fantasy world where there's ample staffing. Advice like walk away and reapproach doesn't bode well if the problem is she's sitting in a dirty brief and you know if you walk away and do tasks you probably won't be able to get back to her for an hour.

I listen to the teepa snow podcast when I can, I will feel myself getting irritated just hearing her roleplay as a person with dementia. I try to not be like this but... I'm just so irritated the moment I see some of these residents. I'm not supposed to be handling this kind of care for a reason.
