Battery was stuck in camera. Had to drill it out, now it is getting extremely hot.

I had a camera battery that expanded and leaked in my camera and it was stuck inside. I used a small drill bit to drill into it and then be able to pull it out (took may 2 seconds of drilling not even). Now, minutes later, the battery is getting extremely hot. There must be some kind of chemical reaction with the air/oxygen. What do I do??
