Built a tool to help with "is my car ready?" calls - would love your feedback

I keep hearing from mechanics that they're constantly getting pulled away from work by service advisors asking for status updates to tell customers.

The cycle I keep hearing about:

  • You're in the middle of a tricky repair
  • Service advisor taps you on the shoulder: "Customer's asking about the Honda"
  • You stop what you're doing, give update
  • 30 minutes later: same thing, different car
  • Repeat all day

What I built: A simple tool where you can quickly update job status once (takes 30 seconds), customers check online instead of calling the front desk. Fewer customer calls = fewer interruptions for you.

Been testing with a few shops:

  • Mechanics report 50-60% fewer interruptions from service advisors
  • Can update multiple jobs in 2 minutes vs getting interrupted 10+ times per day
  • Customers check status online instead of calling

My question for working mechanics: Is this actually a problem you deal with? Are there other interruptions that bug you more? What would make this useful vs just another thing to remember?

Not trying to sell anything here, just want to make sure I understand the real pain points before building more features.

What's your experience with constant status check interruptions?

P.S. If anyone wants to check out what I built or test it at your shop, just drop a comment or shoot me a DM. Always happy to get feedback from people actually doing the work.
