Things to do on a one day visit to oak park area ?

Due to some packing mishaps, I will be driving from Wisconsin to Oak Park tomorrow to drop off an important item to my friend. Is there any weird/kitschy/cute places to check out around there? And more importantly, will they be open on July 4th? Thank you!!
