Driver personalization vs memory storage buttons

Our CX90 GTP (canadian model) MHEV is awaiting a new hybrid battery. In the meantime our loaner is Signature spec, so a higher trim.

I followed the instructions on setting up driver personalization. What I don’t understand is how this user profile system works with the two preset buttons we are used to from our model.

Are they completely unrelated? If so, how do I save my settings back into my driver personalization profile? It asked the first time but I’m not sure how to tweak and save it.
