Dad going on about eating habits

My dad walks to my mom, talking about food and how all he is being fed is junk. My dad is skinny, and eats fruit every day. He had fruit, and for supper broccoli salad, chicken, and a rice cup today. He also takes a pile of vitamins everyday. He proceeds to go on by saying pasta has sugar in it, and about butter and baked potato’s. Him telling my mother that all he is being fed is junk makes my mom feel bad, as she does all the cooking. I say to my dad “Life is too short to be worrying about broccoli salad and chicken.” My dad tells me I’ll think differently when I’m older. I’m an adult now, and I want to always eat guilt free. I believe life is too short, to eat what you want and eat desert if you want to. My dad said all this but ate a piece of chocolate cake, and eats chips and alcohol on the weekend, so I don’t know what’s going on with his thinking.

Whenever I’m eating something, his comments come to mind. Should I be eating this? Does he think that what I’m eating is ‘junk’ and that I shouldn’t be eating it? Everyone including him should be able to eat guilt free, no matter if it’s supper or a piece of cake.
