Unused Cricut Maker 3 w/ 3D Printer: Worth keeping?
I got a Maker 3 years ago and have managed to amass a mini press, markers, mats, plus a fairly large collection of different materials (including removable and permanent vinyl, HTV, sticker paper, felt, balsa wood, chipboard, cardstock, etc.) but nothing in large amounts.
I meant to use it, truly, but I kept putting it off bc using it seemed like it involved more steps and a steeper learning than I had time for.
I’ve since gotten into home dec/diy and purchased a 3D printer. At this point, the only things I can think of that I really want to do with the Cricut are make labels (my handwriting is so bad), wallpaper/stencils for painting furniture, and perhaps quilt or pattern pieces for sewing.
I would enjoy being able to make the above, and I’m not new to crafting, but getting myself up to speed on the Cricut feels daunting, for some reason. I keep thinking of other tools/materials I could use to accomplish the same tasks more easily - like a nice color label maker, a smaller die cutting machine for labels (maybe Silhouette instead?), regular peel and stick wallpaper, even an embroidery machine.
Since y’all have more Cricut experience, I thought it might be worth polling you about how you would proceed if you were in my shoes: Would you make yourself dive in and at least try to use the machine or attempt to sell it and use the funds to purchase something else? Part of what’s preventing me from opting for the latter is that it looks like there are dozens of Cricut machines languishing on sites like Facebook marketplace in my city, so I know I’m going to get a very, very low return on investment. Any suggestions? I’d be super appreciative of them.
