Minecraft Experience Cape

I recently went to the Minecraft experience and it was a bit fun, but I kind of spent money I probably shouldn't have spent. I've seen a lot of people talking about selling their zombie villager cape and I want to what the consequences of selling it is as I would like to sell, but I don't if its too risky or illegal. Thank you.
