I believe Deja Foxx is astroturfing this subreddit

I hope this post is allowed.

"Astroturfing" is creating a false grassroots movement, using communications to make it seem like a particular position or candidate has support when then really don't.

Here's why I think this:

  1. Any post in this subreddit that mentions the CD7 election has an unusual amount of engagement. Maybe that's because lot of people are interested in the election-- entirely possible. But most of the engagement comes in the form of support for Deja Foxx.

  2. Unlike the engagement that seems to favor the other candidates, the Deja Foxx-oriented comments seem unusually thin on substance. They repeat her bio, they talk about how her principal opponent is a "nepo baby," how the democratic party needs younger blood, etc. No talk of positions.

  3. When asked about positions, Deja Foxx supporters simply point redditors to her website, not engaging AT ALL on any specific policy points.

  4. The Deja Foxx supporters whose accounts I have examined seem to have something in common: while they are not necessarily new accounts, they tend to comment in other large subreddits on things about pop culture, sports, health, etc. While they do comment in the Tucson subreddit, they don't tend to comment in posts about actual political issues, like Project Blue, or transportation, or homelessness, etc. If Deja Foxx supporters are truly politically engaged, you would think they would care about and write about those things.

I could be wrong, but I am suspicious.
