My wife left and hasn't filed for divorce

My wife left me 3 weeks ago after she admitted to cheating. She had called 911 the night she left because i took her phone to obtain proof, and she attacked me. Leaving me with scratches and bruises. I left so our kids didn't have to, and the next day she had taken almost everything -- including the toilet paper, the shower curtain, and even some of my personal belongings. I put security cameras up and watched her as she came the following day to get even more stuff. She had purposefully kept my child from me, only letting me talk to her 3 times. A week later she filed a PFA against me with false allegations, claiming she fled for her and the children's safety, but still hasn't filed for a divorce yet.

My attorney recommended that I wait to file until the PFA case is handled, however, I am worried that this will affect my custody the long run, as I am the primary care giver and spent the majority of time with the child.

Should I wait to file until after we go to court, or wait for her to file first?
