Advice on going forward with MBA
I am a mid career 40 year old. Changing paths as life circumstances require me to be the primary breadwinner. Already have job that pays 120k and qualifies for PSLF. Set to finish MBA at big name school Fall 2027. Potential for large salary increases with MBA and continuing with current position.
I had previous PSLF about three years ago from my original undergrad and grad loans. No balance when I began my program and took new loans in 2023. Anticipating getting PSLF a second time.
Since I had no federal balance on these loans at the time I took them would I qualify for new or old IBR under the BBB? I had pre 2014 loans but these had been paid off prior to new loans?
I am trying to decide if I should get about 15k in private loans to finish my degree or take out additional federal (which would force me on RAP). IBR at 10% is the best option RAP would be better than IBR at 15%. Private loan + IBR payment would be lower than RAP if I qualify for 10%
Also is there anything else I am potentially missing? Spouse took a significant pay cut but will likely start making money again within ten year period so will also need MFS.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
