Trendy Clothes Are Ugly [Fashion Question]

I'm having trouble finding my ~~aesthetic~~ at 35. What's trendy now is...not great, to put it nicely. I go to secondhand shops and find some good things, but I realized that I end up just getting solid neutral shirts that have a silhouette I like - off the shoulder, a cute loose tank with a little pocket on the breast, something a little strappy or cleavage-y, etc. But jeans + a plan colored shirt + black Vans/Converse seems so boring. How do we dress this shit up? In the fall and winter there's jackets, but what about the rest of the year? I would have relied on statement necklaces and thick belts around the waist in 2010 lol but now...Idk what to do. I'm more of a minimalist clothing wise, but I also don't want to be SO plain. Having trouble with this one.
