Following an account = spam of their posts

Whenever I follow an account, my Home feed becomes nothing but that account’s posts, even to going back months in their post history! This happens every single time, and it has made me stop following new accounts altogether because I can’t stand the spam. It usually lasts around 24 hours; no matter how often I refresh, it’ll just load other posts by that account. I’ve reported it to Instagram but I haven’t heard back, of course. Does this happen to anyone else?
