I need advice on how to move forward with state farm after a car accident.

I'm in northwest arkansas. Back in April of this year I was at a stop light off an roff ramp and got rear ended by a silverado and it propelled me forward and i hit the audi in front of me. Turns out a lady in a subaru came off the interstate at highway speeds and hit a the silverado causing a three car (4 cars including hers) pileup. My truck is a 2001 toyota tacoma and the frame is completely bent and cracked. The shop i took it to said it was totaled. Now it's July, and State farm (the lady at faults insurance company is taking full responsibility) is still giving me the go around saying that they aren't sure if there's a limits issue so they can't help me 284)!- rental or anything to help me. I haven't talked to the same person ever and it's always the same issue, " there's a limits issue go through your own insurance." I personally only had liability insurance so they can't help me really. State farm gave me an estimate for the "repairs" for my truck using photo estimator and just last week sent me a $2,500 check. I haven't received the check yet, but I called them several times saying this isn't acceptable and there's no repairs to be had. the truck is totaled. I been without a vehicle since mid-April and I feel like State farm is going to screw me over and low ball me on the value of my truck. It's been so stressful and I don't have a second vehicle or the means to buy another vehicle. I loved my tacoma and am so sad and frustrated not to mention sore. Oh and i talked to a lawyer early on and they said since my settlement wouldn't be very much it might not be worth getting a lawyer. Should i have gotten one anyway? Did i screw myself over by not having one? Does anyone have any advice or have similar experience with state farm?
