Fish-out-of-water stories in the vein of "Being There" or "Forrest Gump"

I'm interested in stories where the main character is a bit unorthodox relative to his/her surroundings but is able to adapt - ideally, without really knowing the implications of his/her actions, a la "Being There." Any story where someone is just piecing things together but also making moves unintentionally, with hilarious results. Thanks!
