Tell me your thoughts.

I am a new DM who is currently running Phandelver and Below but also want to run just one more campaign but the campaign im currently in as a player is the one I also want to DM let me explain.

On fridays me and my fellow players get in a vc with our dm and run curse of strahd weekly (though we have had a small break due to unfortunate circumstances) and I want to also run curse of strahd myself as a DM but I don’t want to ruin it for my DM by having bought the book and running it with players of my own but I’m stuck on whether I should or not and I can’t find answers anywhere so I decided to come here and ask you guys and fellow DMs what should I do?
