[WeWantOut] 31F and 35M married American Couple -> Spain/France/Italy/UK
Husband and I are interested in our options to get us living and working in Europe (ideally any of the countries listed above or the UK - also open to other Western European countries, though we have a linguistic advantage with the three listed and the UK).
We both speak English, Spanish, and Italian, and I also speak some French. We both are great language learners, and are confident in our ability to master languages quickly.
My father was born in Italy, but his documents are hard to track because his name was spelled two different ways on this birth certificate, and he and I are not on speaking terms. He also has a long criminal record in the US, which I'm not sure if that would effect the process of getting Italian citizenship through him.
My husband was born in El Salvador, but does not currently have a passport with them, though he could easily acquire it. I know that gives him a faster path to Spanish citizenship (2 years of living there, vs 5). He also has close family that live in Spain which is helpful.
I'm a pilates teacher with specialized global certifications that are very well respected in the pilates industry. I also have freelance copywriting experience and plenty of hospitality experience as well.
Husband has a long resume in media (digital, marketing, film, ect), and is a very adaptable worker. Open to a career change if needed.
We have a nest egg to open a possible pilates studio, if that would be a viable business in the city we settle in and if it would help us attain citizenship.
Any suggestions for paths we could take given all of this information?
Note: we're also open to maybe having one or both of us try to attend a university for a masters degree if it helps with the process of attaining citizenship.
