Fraudulent items?

I havent bought items on the steam community market since like 2022. Recently some random added me and texted me that I apparently have items that were stolen from his account, and then made me add some random guy to get some “verification” on some random site. I didn’t do it because it seemed mad suspicious. It’s probably a scam, and if it is a scam, I’m at least curious on how it works.
