Should I Even Try This Year?

General Question

I really wish I could change my circumstances at UVA, but I'm really disliked/hated by the entire student body, which is part of the reason I'm scared to try as I worry many people know me, so I will automatically be hated and disliked even if I tried. I've made only enemies here and 0 friends. I crave belonging, friendship, and connection, but I cannot find that. At least not anymore as it's too late for me. On top of being hated by everyone, groups are already established, so no one is looking for new friends and groups aren't as open to befriending new people. Plus, I can't join any clubs as I can't bring myself to do so. I believe that if I did try to, it wouldn't work out (it hasn't so far). Not to mention, I wouldn't talk to anyone as I have nothing to talk about with people, and people never talk to me either, so it's just kind of like why bother? I also have to have a legitimate, pressing reason to interact with someone. I can't just casually talk to people for the heck of it as I don't know what to talk about. The weather?

I'd like to try out tennis, but too scared to join the club/clubs in general (not that I've found many to join). I like fashion too, but not even sure if there is anything for that here. I don't know anything about fashion, but I know I'm fairly fashionable. I've also been into cars here lately (design wise), but I don't know. I am contemplating on if I should even try to attend the activities fair this year. I usually never stay long as it's too overwhelming with all the people.

My time is just slipping away, and I'm going to be graduating with 0 memories and 0 friendships, which deeply upsets me. I don't want another lonely, isolating year, but I foresee that being in my cards again. I'll be in a dorm again this year, but I never attend any of the social events my dorm hosts as I can't bring myself to go, and again, when I do manage to go, people don't talk to me, so I always leave the social event(s) early because it's usually a let down. My years here have consisted of attending class during the week, getting meal exchanges after class and going back to my dorm by myself (I live alone), and then leaving to go home on the weekends. Even when I have stayed on the weekends, there isn't anything to do and I just stay in my dorm room all weekend.

Overall, I just don't try because I know it won't work out for me. I just don't feel accepted, welcomed, or at "home away from home" at UVA. Maybe having a good time or experiencing the college experience just wasn't in my cards. Maybe after college when I move to a more urban place, there might be hope for me at finding belonging and community. Did any alumni start to see their lives improve after college? I hope that maybe mine will.
