Anyone here driving a 2018 Mercedes A180 SE? Got some questions
hi there, has anyone driven the 2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class A180 SE (PARF car, left 4 years) before? I'm thinking about getting one and would love to hear your experience, especially how it handles in stop-and-go traffic.
- How’s the 7-speed dual-clutch (7G-DCT) in real life? I’ve read that DCTs (and CVTs) tend to wear out quicker than torque converters. Is it something to worry about?
- The engine is a four-cylinder turbo co-developed with Renault. Some say it’s solid, others say it’s not great. What’s your take?
- The salesperson mentioned that Mercedes is the most reliable out of the Continental brands (cuz the fewest failures). Is that true or just sales talk? If there are specific models (from mercs, or brands) that are more reliable, I’d love to know.
Also, this car I’m looking at is a parallel import. Is there anything I should be aware of if I go ahead with it? Are there any downsides or things I should check for?
P.S. I know Japanese cars are usually the go-to for reliability, and I totally get that. Just exploring my options with an open mind.
