Stock exhaust fans in The Tower 300 — unbearable noise under load

Hey everyone,

I recently spent quite a bit of time picking the right case for my new build, and I settled on the Thermaltake The Tower 300. Visually, it’s an amazing case — great design, solid construction. I was really excited to use it.

But I'm honestly disappointed and surprised by the stock top exhaust fans that come pre-installed. While the noise at idle is tolerable (just a light hum), things go downhill fast under load — the fans produce a deep, droning kind of noise that’s very loud and intrusive. It's not some subtle whoosh of airflow — it's a real low-frequency rumble that fills the room. You'll hear it clearly in the video I’ll attach to this post (starts with idle, then ramps up under load).

I genuinely didn't expect this from Thermaltake. I have three ENDORFY Stratus 120 PWM fans from my old build, installed now as side intake. They’re significantly cheaper, and yet they’re almost silent under the same thermal conditions. It makes the poor acoustic performance of the stock fans even more frustrating.

I’ve tried changing fan profiles in BIOS to Silent and Standard — it made no noticeable difference.

So now I’m left wondering:

  • Is this just how these fans are supposed to sound?
  • Has anyone else experienced this with the Tower 300?
  • Do I seriously have to throw out brand new fans and replace them?

I know sound perception is subjective, but this goes beyond personal preference — the noise under load is objectively excessive. I really expected better quality control from a brand like Thermaltake.

If anyone from the company is reading this — I’d really appreciate your input or a suggestion here.

Thanks to anyone who has advice or similar experience!
