Did I break my HVAC?
Woke up this morning to my outside AC unit fan not spinning. Had a tech come out here 2 days ago for maintenance and he saw there was a leak inside - his guess was a broken pan but he didn’t want to take things apart as it would include cutting away pipe to get to it. Mainly because my AC is 15 years old, HVAC is 10, his reasoning was at that point it, once the damage was done, may be more worth the time to replace the whole thing. I said okay (now I wonder if I made the right decision) and he left. I realized the leak was soaking my filters so I attempted to tape up the furnace seams a little and maybe deviate the water elsewhere.
Did I potentially break my system, cause water damage?
Here’s the thing, like I said, the hvac is attempting to run, it’s the fan outside that isn’t spinning. Looked up troubleshooting and the go to is replace capacitor. I’m going to start there but is it possible a build up of water inside dried something outside?
