First Copy Review: A Beautiful Throwback to the 90s with Real Emotions

NOW STREAMING!

The whole 90s vibe, the cassette era, the underground piracy scene, it was so nostalgic and raw. The way they showed the hustle of those days. The storyline is refreshingly real.

Set in the 90s with that classic cassette era charm, the show captures the world of film piracy in such a gripping way. From cramped studios to squinting at copied tapes, the attention to detail really transports you back in time.

Munawar absolutely nailed it in his acting debut ,the emotions, the intensity, the vulnerability, it didn’t feel like a first attempt at all. You can genuinely feel the depth he brings to every scene. He’s not just a great comedian or writer anymore ,this man is a full-on performer now.

Ashi was so natural and brought such a fresh, charming vibe to the screen. Her chemistry with Munawar felt effortless and real. Crystal brought calm and strength, while Squib added just the right amount of chaos and comic relief. Their dynamics felt raw, grounded, and unfiltered.

The story kept me hooked till the end. It had the perfect mix of emotion, drama, and nostalgia. No unnecessary masala, just grounded, sincere storytelling with a lot of heart.

A couple of things could’ve been better. Some scenes felt slightly stretched in the initial episodes, and a few side characters could’ve used more depth or closure. The pacing dipped briefly midway, but it picked up again toward the end and closed on a strong note.

The director captured such a unique time and space so beautifully. The mood, the emotional weight, the world-building everything felt intentional and real.

Overall, First Copy is a solid, heartfelt series that’s perfect for a weekend binge, emotional, nostalgic, and refreshingly real
