My experience with amtv’s auction system so far
Posted a few auctions out of curiosity and because I thought the feature was a pretty good idea.
First auction I posted was neon alley cat, I got an AMAZING offer 2 minutes before the auction was about to end, then I check a few minutes later and the winning offer was a few neon amber butterflies and low demand pets, I was so upset 😭. So that’s the first issue, whilst the value was higher according to amtv, the demand was lower on the final offer and I would have gladly taken the one before but couldn’t.
Second issue is ghosting, oh my god the ghosting. Every single auction I’ve won has ended in me being ghosted and the trade being marked failed no fault. I understand that people don’t want to just trade away their pet for a bad offer (which all of the things I offered were pretty good imo) but it’s the same issue I just spoke about above, people are and will always be picky about pets so the idea of having an auction where you can’t pick the best offer just seems redundant for lower value pets with less stable demand.
The final issue is peoples offering mentality, many people see the auction feature as a way to cheat the system and as long as you get lucky and bid on something no one else has, or bid a ton of bad pets that add up to better value you’ll win the auction and get the pet. I don’t think this should be how it works, I don’t really have a suggestion for how amtv could combat people lowballing as I think it’s just human nature to try and get a good deal, but in 99% of cases you will be ghosted because who wants to trade their pet for a sub-par offer just because it won a virtual auction?
In short, I won’t be using this feature again. gg has the best trading feature imo, gg has never failed me in terms of giving accurate results for W/L scenarios and I find the offers on there to be pretty fair if not favourable, ESPECIALLY compared to every rich players favourite place to demand overpay which is traderie.
