What fabric for a very big sampler?
Hello hello, I'm quite new at embroidery, but, since I find it fun and relaxing, I have in mind a daily little project to bring me to try a lot of stitches, so I can build up an habit and understand all the different stitches better and choose the ones I'd like to use in my projects. The idea is basically to try a Stitch or two everyday from the fantastic RSN Stitch Bank, but I want to do them all on a single piece of fabric, in little shapes so I can also use the thing as a big sampler. Making a couple of rough calculations, I should need about 1,30m x 0,50m (or about 50inches x 20 inches).
I can easily buy aida fabric (even thought my usual fabric shop carries only one type of it and I can't remember how fine it is), or Panama fabric, and since I'm enjoying some "urban sketching" style embroidery, I'm inclined to use the Panama since I liked it the most with my few tries, but, since I've never ever heard of many of these stitches, what type of fabric do you recommend me to use?
Is it possible to do counted thread stitches on a canvas like the Panama or actual evenwave or aida are non negotiable options for some types of stitches?
Thank you for any help 😁
